Sony UK has tasked Cake with handling the social media, PR and experiential activity for its UK consumer electronics division.

Following three separate pitches, the agency was appointed to develop an overarching brand engagement strategy, while overseeing the social media presences across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.

The account will focus on delivering experiences to consumer and trade with trade shows and field marketing involved in the experiential activity, and the agency’s PR team acting as a day-to-day consumer press office while developing and implementing a creative consumer PR strategy.

The Sony business as a whole will be overseen by Cake’s managing director, Chris Wood, who commented: “Having spent a decade cultivating each of our three core offerings in social media, PR and experiential to the highest level, we are pleased that a brand as prestigious as Sony has chosen Cake to lead on all three disciplines. We firmly believe that first-rate ideas which can be incorporated into every aspect of people’s lives – be it through PR, social media or experientially - should lead the way.”
