Debenhams is offering free Facebook Credits as a thank you to anyone who ‘likes’ them on Facebook and signs up to their email newsletter.

Facebook Credits is already the payment preference for many online gamers, and can be used to buy virtual goods in their favourite games and applications on Facebook. Virtual currency is also set to increase in popularity with consumers soon able to vote on reality TV shows such as Celebrity Big Brother and The X Factor via Facebook Credits.

The promotion will be open to new and existing Facebook fans and customers simply have to ‘like’ Debenhams’ Facebook page and enter in their email address before they are taken to the ifeelgoods app to gain their reward. Debenhams’ Facebook page currently has 55,000 followers, that the company hopes that the use of Facebook Credits will increase this further.

Jane Exon, head of brand and advertising at Debenhams, said: “We are always looking for new and exciting ways of engaging with our customers which haven’t been done before.

“We have been watching closely the success of Facebook Credits, and now it is opened up to a more mainstream audience outside of just gamers, we wanted to be able to give our customers something back as a thank you.”
