Siemens has joined forces with Manchester’s Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI), aiming to promote the importance of science, technology, engineering and maths to children.

As part of the partnership, Siemens will work with MOSI to provide free school trips for children, giving them the opportunity to take part in workshops. It is also involved in initiatives such as ‘science busking’ at the Manchester Science Festival.

Justin Kelly (right), head of strategy and communications at Siemens Industry, said: “Our partnership with MOSI has allowed us to get more involved with the local community on a project we are very passionate about. We are also committed to being actively involved, and believe the relationship will be mutually beneficial with both organisations aiming to raise the profile of science and technology.

“Britain has always played an active role in technological developments, and so we must inspire the next generation to equip themselves with the skills needs to be part of an exciting future, which will see scientific discoveries that we can’t even begin to imagine.”

Tony Hill (left), director and CEO at MOSI, said: “Working with Siemens will enable MOSI to inspire more school children than ever by exploring science with them in our fantastic new Learning Loft, allowing them to interact with real engineers and researchers.

“The new classrooms are just one part of MOSI’s recent £9 million transformation, which includes the amazing Revolution Manchester Gallery and interactive science gallery Experiment. Siemens shares our vision and is a perfect partner for MOSI and the Manchester Science Festival, which engages people with the vital scientific issues of today.”
