As the 18th year of T in the Park draws to a close, Tennent’s Lager is set to unveil its next instalment in the adventures of Hugh Tennent as he sees his ‘Fabulous Festival’ come to life.

The new advert, which is the second ad from Tennent’s this year, will hit TV screens across Scotland from today after a special preview for T in the Park audiences on the Sunday evening.

The new advert, again created by Edinburgh-based agency Newhaven, closes with an acknowledgement and thank you from Tennent’s to the hundreds of thousands of music fans who, over the years, have contributed to the festival’s spirit, growth and success.

As the advert opens, viewers are transported to Balado campsite in 1887, as Hugh and his trusted butler Barnes take an evening stroll at their inaugural T in the Park. “Well Barnes, my first ever T in the Park was a success” crows Hugh to Barnes. He agrees, “Resounding Sir!”

As they walk through the lantern lined trees that resemble the walkways of T in the Park today, Hugh continues to sum up the spirit of the weekend, “With music, good times, and my marvellous lager”.

Music fans of the era wander behind the Tennent’s founder, making their way back to the Victorian campsite after what has been an exhilarating day.

As the sun sets and the advert draws to a close, Hugh has one last thing on his mind that is likely to strike a chord with many festival -goers, “There is one thing though Barnes... where did we pitch the tent?”.

The advert closes with a message from Tennent’s to T in the Park music fans: “The Fabulous Festival Conceived by Hugh. Made Spectacular by Fans Like You”.

Jane Cannon, marketing manager for Tennent’s said: “The new advert sees Hugh Tennent revel in the great spirit of the festival as he walks through the campsite of Balado in 1887. The heart of the festival which comes across in the advert– its spirit, sense of celebration and magical setting –is very familiar to the festival we know and love today, and for that we have to thank the music fans who help make every year of T in the Park such a memorable one”.

A new competition on the Tennent’s Facebook page will also be launching the week after the T in the Park weekend. The competition challenges people to find Hugh’s Tent giving Tennent’s Facebook fans the opportunity to be in with a chance of winning luxury camping and weekend tickets to T in the Park 2012 for them and three friends.
