Contrary to reports, supermarket chain Morrisons has clarified its advertising plans having pulled out of advertising within this weekend’s News of the World.

“We are not advertising this Sunday,” said a spokesperson for Morrisons. “We know how serious this issue is and we are monitoring this situation over the next week before making any final decision about our advertising.”

The company has previously been reported as saying that it planned on sticking with the News of the World, as many other brands pulled their advertising from the title amidst the revelation an employee hacked into the voicemail of murdered schoolgirl Millie Dowler and deleted messages from it.

Further allegations have been made against the newspaper surrounding phone hackings practices in recent days.
