Nearly 70 workers have lost their jobs after Gloucestershire-based printing company Orchestra Wotton went into administration.

The announcement comes following news that the data service division of the business, Orchestra Bristol, had been rescued from administration after being acquired by Communisis, saving 122 jobs.

However, administrators have said that were unable to find a buyer for the print side of the business.

A spokesman for administrators Grant Thornton said immediate closure was the only practical course of action, as there was "no funding to pay wages and salaries going forward and only a very limited order book for the foreseeable future".

A meeting was taking place on Friday between the Unite union and 50 members of the 68-strong workforce who are fighting for a proper pay-off after being told they were only able to claim statutory redundancy.

Union spokesman Trevor Hall said: "I feel this is disgraceful because the company knew this was coming and should have looked after their most important investment - their workforce."
