North West utilities provider Electricity North West is to ramp up its external communications with the appointment of Citypress to handle a media relations brief.

The Manchester PR agency will now support Electricity North West’s press office in Warrington to improve awareness of the company, its services and investment programme, as it invests over £1bn in the regions infrastructure over the coming four years. This will include spending £200m on new connections, £120m on reinforcing the network and another £400m on the renewal of equipment.

Charles Tattersall, managing director of Citypress said: "Almost every home and business in the region relies on Electricity North West for its power supply, although the scale and importance of the company's operations and investment is not universally known. We're aiming to generate a better understanding of the company's work and its relevance to everyone living in the region and beyond."

The company’s green energy initiatives are also expected to be highlighted, alongside projects which encourage better energy management.
