Following an interview with BBC Radio 5Live where he said that he hoped that the tabloid press ‘would go out of business’, The Daily Mail has printed a ‘not wanted’ poster and banned him from reading the newspaper.

Earlier this week, the actor clarified points he made on Newsnight about super injunctions and said that his comments had been misreported by The Daily Mirror in revenge for his attack on their industry.

This has prompted the newspaper to ban him from reading the newspaper.

The advert includes the statement: “He is henceforth banned from reading the Daily Mirror”, and it described Grant as an “ex-prostitute user, part-time actor and full-time whinger”.

Readers are also instructed to tell Grant, should he be caught reading a copy of the newspaper: “You are Hugh Grant. This is a family newspaper. Sleazy low-lifes who believe they should keep the sordid exploitation of a woman prostitute private (just because they are rich and famous) are banned from reading the Daily Mirror.” They are told to then to ‘confiscate’ his copy of the newspaper and ‘disinfect’ it immediately.

The posters refer to Grant’s arrest for soliciting a prostitute in 1995 alongside his police mugshot.

Piers Morgan has also said through Twitter that Grant is banned from appearing on his CNN chat show.
