MediaCo Outdoor, the new large format out-of-home contractor, has completed the initial phase of development in the City of Manchester after winning the city’s large format contract last October.

The flagship sites of the new network are five Mega 6 displays with plinths incorporating the Manchester logo created in collaboration with the celebrated designer Peter Saville.

The company has redesigned and developed a total of 26 sites including the replacement of the 17 Manchester ‘M’ 48 sheet displays originally erected by More O’Ferrall over 12 years ago and latterly operated by Maiden, Titan and then Primesight until September 2010.

As well as the Mega 6 format there are 15 back illuminated 48 sheet and 6 back illuminated 96 sheet sites. The portfolio also utilises energy saving LED illumination in place of traditional tube lighting. There will also be bespoke spectacular sites and the network will incorporate a digital offering.

Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council, said. “These will be the most sophisticated hi-tech sites in the country. As a network that will generate money for the Council, it represents excellent value for Manchester in the years ahead.”

MediaCo won the contract in a pitch believed to involve all the major UK outdoor contractors.
