Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has spoken out in favour of Super Injunctions has he was forced to deny that he and his wife had split.

Clarkson is the latest celebrity to back the gagging order and follows actor Hugh Grant’s defence of them on Newsnight.

Clarkson was wrongly accused on Twitter of having sought an injunction against the press to prevent it publishing pictures of him with Jemima Kahn, which Kahn has denied.

Clarkson has said that he had known that such a story was about to break, he would have taken out an injunction against it, ‘in a heartbeat’

In his newspaper column, Clarkson wrote; "It is said only the rich and famous can afford a gagging order. But only the rich and famous ever need one."

Clarkson also admitted to knowing Kahn well and said that they had been out for dinner the night prior to the story being released.
