With the relaunch of the Sunday Sport this morning, owner David Sullivan has taken the chance to call for the support of the title’s readers and explain the situation which led him to return as publisher.

In a leader for the first new edition of the relaunched title, Sullivan reveals that following the administration of Sports Media Group, which published but the Sunday Sport and the Daily Sport, which will not be revived, he was approached by a group of journalists at the company who invested in buying the title from the administrators.

“We’re 100% committed to making it a huge success,” he continues. “To make sure, we’re going back to the things that made this newspaper a worldwide publishing sensation when I launched it way back in 1986.”

Listing the features that readers can expect from the title going forward, he includes ‘shocking exclusives’, ‘outrageous laugh-out-loud headlines’ and ‘Page after full colour page of Britain’s most gorgeous glamour models topless and nude’.

He adds that due to ‘new printing arrangements’ the newspaper will now be in full colour for the first time and that the newspaper will remain on sale for three days each week, until Tuesday.

“I would personally urge you to have a close look at all the goods and services on offer from our wonderful advertisers,” he continues. “Every advert you respond to makes your Sunday Sport more of a success story, supports the advertisers who have made this relaunch possible and helps ensure that your Sunday Sport never disappears from the shelves again.”

He concludes by adding that all involved want the title to be a success and promises that readers will enjoy the newspaper.

The first edition of the relaunched title, retailing for £1, includes the lead story that Osama Bin Laden was killed while on the toilet, and claims to have a ‘Nipple Count’ of 98. Also featured are pictures of Pippa Middleton in a bra, a cartoon celebrating the return of The Sunday Sport, the headline ‘Paranormal Activity in my Knickers’ and a 11 pages of sporting news from Saturday’s football action.
