Dan James, deputy managing director and former creative director of Leeds creative agency JDA has left the business two months after the departure of managing director Mike Ashton.

James took on the role of deputy managing director having worked in the capacity of creative director at the agency, but has now left ‘by mutual consent’ Martin Smith, chief executive of the Direct Marketing Group confirmed.

Smith did not reveal whether James had left with a new job to go to or when he thought that a successor would be found, but did say that there were plans to refocus and possibly rebrand the agency in the near future.

James joined the JDA Group in 2004 as head of copy, rising to creative director in 2007 and deputy managing director in February of this year, following the departure of Ashton.
