The former PR director of The JDA Group has opened his own public relations agency with grand designs of "raising the creative bar within the industry".

Jason Kelly has named his Yorkshire-based agency '...talktojason'.

But it was more like 'talk to the hand' when Kelly had a cheeky dig at rivals upon opening his new business.

He said: "The pr industry is full of agencies who describe themselves as creative, but to be honest, I’ve come across a few who have very little, or no real idea when it comes to offering practical creativity to their clients – especially within these difficult economic times.

“I would even go as far as saying a lot of pr agencies still don’t understand or appreciate the importance of digital. I know of a few agencies that still believe ‘pr’ stands for just press release and not public relations."

Kelly's company will offer services such as crisis and issues planning, brand architecture, media relations and social media management.

He claims it has already secured three consumer account wins with unnamed retail, leisure and electrical goods brands.
