Publisher DC Thomson has moved the printing of its annual cartoons such as The Broons and Oor Wullie to China, following recent cost-cutting exercises at the company.

The company has previously printed its annual publications from its plants in Glasgow and Dundee, with the Glasgow operation facing closure following a consultation process, having become ‘unsustainable’.

It is expected that printing will cease at the Glasgow office at Port Dundas at some stage in 2012.
