Three MG ALBA members reapointed by Ofcom

Three existing members of the Board of Gaelic Media Service MG ALBA have been reappointed by Ofcom.

The appointments Donald JF MacInnes, chief executive of Glasgow: City of Science, Donald Martin, former chief executive of gaelic agency Comunn na Gàidhlig, and Rob Dunbar, director of the Soillse research centre at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, have been approved by Michael Moore, secretary of state for Scotland, as the reduction in numbers of board members falls from 12 to nine.

The three were nominated by the BBC, Highland and Islands Enterprise and Bòrd na Gàidhlig, respectively.

Alasdair Morrison, chairman of MG ALBA, said: “Whilst welcoming the reappointment of the nominated Board members, I must to pay tribute to the departing members who have given generously of their time, energy and expertise. They played a critical role in the establishment of BBC ALBA. Viewers across Scotland will enjoy the fruits of those members' endeavours when BBC ALBA finally becomes available to all television viewers in Scotland on Freeview.”

The terms will run for three years for two members and a further year for one member.
