Family bakers Warburtons has taken its PR in-house after reviewing its regional agency roster.

The company is understood to have taken its media communications services in-house until at least the end of the year, having reviewed its roster of regional PR agencies including Souters (north west) and Beattie Communications (Scotland) at the beginning of the year.

A spokesperson for Warburtons confirmed the decision, saying: “Warburtons has taken the decision to bring its regional PR in-house for the short term while it re-evaluates its business needs.”

At the time of confirming the review, Richard Hayes, marketing manager for Warburtons, explained: “We are currently in the process of meeting with a number of relevant parties , who along with the incumbent agencies, will be invited to take part in a pitch process."

He added: “As I'm sure you can appreciate due to the confidential nature of a pitch situation, I'm afraid we can't reveal any further details at the moment but we will look to announce our updated roster once the pitch process is complete.”

The company’s consumer PR agency in London, Clarion Communications was unaffected by this review.
