Following the recent race row, the creator of ITV’s Midsomer Murders has said he will leave at the end of the current series.

Brian True-May, creator of the murder mystery series, has said that he will leave the series having been reinstated yesterday following a suspension after he claimed he did not use black people or Asians on the show as it would not portray a realistic English village if he did.

True-May was reinstated to the series yesterday, but also announced his intention to leave upon completion of filming for this series.

But a spokesperson from ITV, confirmed that he was set to leave the programme that he created in 1997. Series star John Nettles (pictured) has also left the series, with the first episode of the new series to be fronted by actor Neil Dudgeon.

Dudgeon has refused to be drawn on the row surrounding the use of racial minorities on the programme.
