Airbnb, a website and mobile app which allows users to rent out spare rooms to travellers, is to mount an assault on the UK market this April to coincide with the Royal wedding.

Described as “eBay for spaces” the site acts as a middleman between homeowners and travelers seeking a sofa, spare room or holiday home in which to crash whilst on the road.

With accommodation in the capital seen as likely to be at even more of a premium than usual the founders reckon the service could take off here.

Over 1m nights have been booked globally on the site since its launch.

Company lead marketing manager Christopher Lukezic assures budding tenants however that feedback on both guests and accommodation are fed back directly to the firm – ensuring that any listings or users which fall short aren’t featured for long.
