US based videogame developers Reloaded Productions is to establish a new development studio in Edinburgh, the Culture Minister Fiona Hyslop has announced.

The studio will be responsible for developing All Points Bulletin (APB) after the firm acquired the intellectual property rights to the online title from Dundee based Real Time Worlds, which went into administration.

22 jobs in game design, 3D art and game engineering will be created in the city as a result of the move which has benefited from cash support from government agencies.

Hyslop said: "I am delighted that Reloaded Productions will establish a studio in Edinburgh rather than creating jobs only in its existing locations in Irvine, California and Bangalore, India. It is testament to the talent, infrastructure and cutting-edge skills Scotland has to offer in this fast-growing and competitive market and our continued promotion of this key sector internationally.”

The announcement dovetails with the government’s launch of its creative industries strategy, a bid to improve skills and increase investment in the sector.
