Two former television executives have today launched a new website designed to help GCSE students with their homework.

Managing director Theresa Watts and creative director Helen Royle have both held senior positions at Granada Television, as well as having spent a significant portion of their careers working for the BBC.

Royle explained that the concept for site came to her when she was unable help her own teenage children with their homework and that there was a real need for a website aimed at supporting GSCE students.

‘We felt that if they could replay their lessons, in the privacy of their own homes and when they were actually stuck then it would be a huge help for kids so we developed stuckonhomework.com,’ she explained.

The site has received ‘significant investment’ from former Tesco chief executive, Sir Terry Leahy, who last week praised the website’s concept for helping to improve educational standards and bringing affordable tuition to lower-income households.

The new site offers the entire GCSE Maths curriculum in 200 short and easy-to-follow lessons, backed up by a digital whiteboard and an interactive ‘test yourself’ tool.

Subscribers to the site receive their own dashboard, which stores the student’s viewing history, holds their inbox, provides them with a personal calendar to store exam dates and compiles a list of favourite videos and tests.

The website also features a message board that allows students to create a profile and help each other with homework problems.
