The Institution of Engineering Designers has been rebranded by Synergy Creative in Bristol.

The agency was briefed to give IED, its website and marketing literature a "fresh new look" and to "redefine" the organisation's key messages.

Synergy director Nicky Clark said: "The IED is the only professional body representing those working in design in the engineering industry, which means that it has huge scope for membership.

"However its branding and messaging had been in place for some time and our client realised that it didn’t accurately represent the organisation’s current aspirations. It was also accepted that the Institution was not attracting enough younger professionals to its membership."

Synergy carried out research with existing, lapsed and potential IED members to find out what they thought of the organisation.

It then spent time looking at how IED talked to its members, before going on to create the new brand identity. Synergy is now working with IED on a communications strategy.
