Former children’s TV presenter Johnny Ball has found himself back in the limelight after joining the ranks of climate change deniers.

Ball has foregone a quiet retirement to speak out against those campaigning for action against the apparent warming of the planet, claiming that such notions are “alarmist nonsense.”

These beliefs have irked said environmentalists who are now raising the heat on ball directly with a campaign of harassment online which Ball asserts has destroyed his public speaking career.

Amongst the methods used to blacken Balls name are a series of blog posts alleging that he is a paedophile and websites which associate Ball with pornographic images.

Speaking to The Times Ball said these sites were a: “…criminal act aimed directly to damage me and my career”.

Ball, who has claimed that spiders flatulence is more damaging to the earth than fossil fuels added: “The reason I take this stance is because several films have been introduced into schools which imply that the earth may not be able to sustain human life as we know it, in around 39 years’ time, which is unscientific, alarmist nonsense.

“Of course mankind is a great burden on the earth, but at every turn we are learning to manage and better control our impact and the damage we do."
