Liverpool-based games development studio Bizarre Creations closes its doors today after almost 17 years in business.

As we reported last month, Bizarre's fate was sealed by owner Activision in January following a consultation with the studio's 200 staff, who were left to find new jobs.

In a statement Activision said: “Having explored a range of options, including a potential sale of the business, and consulted with the staff about the options, we now believe that the only likely option is to close Bizarre Creations.”

Since 1994 Bizarre Creations has developed games including Project Gotham Racing, Geometry Wars, The Club, Blur and James Bond 007: Blood Stone.

The following video is circulating online by way of a tribute to Bizarre's heralded work down the years.
