A full rebrand and refurbishment of Preston bar The Walled Garden has been produced by Wash Design.

The restaurant, originally attached to a garden centre on the edge of town, needed a rebrand following the relocation of the centre. This saw Wash commissioned to explore the brand and also five it the full refurbishment creative direction to turn it into an authentic Bistro Wine Bar.

“It was quite a challenge as we looked at many Bistro Wine Bars and to be honest, many of the ones that we wanted to reflect were primarily city based and built on years of heritage," commented Andy Walmsley, managing director of Wash Design.

"We were concerned of creating a contrived attempt that may fall short of the mark, but couldn’t go to the extreme of straw on the floor and food served on wooden planks. However our client took us on a detailed history lesson of the restaurant and the grounds on which it stands. The Walled Garden was in fact the real deal, an actual walled garden designed back in 1901 for growing kitchen produce to be served in the Barton Grange country residence next door, then home to John Healey, a local cotton magnate. This was a perfect starting point for us and an authenticity we needed to inject into the brand," he continued.

The Walled Garden Bistro Wine Bar, has also just been named the best restaurant in the North West at the Hi-Life Dining Awards Feb 2011.
