Charles MaGhee, former Herald editor, appointed professor at Caledonian University

Charles McGhee, a former editor of The Herald in Glasgow, has been appointed honorary professor of journalism and media studies at Glasgow Caledonian University.

McGhee who also edited the Glasgow Evening Times is also a former president of the UK Society of Editors. He is also one of the judges of the inaugural Online Media Awards, which is being organised by The Drum.

Since leaving The Herald three years ago he has run his own media consultancy working in both China and Nigeria and served on a Scottish Government panel that looked at the options for establishing a dedicated Scottish digital television service.

Said a statement issued by the university. “Mr McGhee will share with the university’s students his knowledge of the industry gained over the past 35 years and develop innovative Continuing Professional Development programmes as well as help shape the university’s undergraduate and graduate courses."
