An app which aims to persuade the general public to sign up and become organ donors has been launched by NHS Lothian.

The ‘Sign up to Save a Life’ app has been designed as part of NHS Lothian’s organ donation campaign, and aims to make it more simple for the public to join the national register.

Also included is general information, facts and a direct link to the national organ and tissue donor register.

A dedicated website, information pack and real-life short films have been created in order to make people more aware of the need for organ donors with the campaign launch following the 50th anniversary of the UK’s first live donor kidney transplant at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in 1960.
