Steve Case, the co-founder and former CEO and chairman of AOL, has questioned AOL’s Huffington Post purchase via his Twitter account.

The former head of AOL has questioned the $315m deal announced on Sunday, tweeting “Tim Armstrong says 1 + 1 will equal 11. Really? That wasn't my experience”. Armstrong is current chairman and CEO of AOL.

Case was at AOL in 2000 when Time Warner acquired the company for $164m – seen by many as the biggest media blunders of the past decade. Case resigned three years later, but remained on the board of directors until 2006.

The Huffington Post acquisition sees co-founder and editor-in-chief Arianna Huffington become president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group – the new entity which integrates Huffington Post and AOL content.
