With some commentators finding it difficult to swallow Facebook’s current $50bn valuation news that the social media giant could be worth $125bn by 2017 is sure to leave jaws on the floor.

Nevertheless this is precisely what financial trends research firm Trefis is predicting, speculating what Facebook, might, be worth come 2017 - assuming the social network can double ad revenue per page, increase page views by 50%, command 10% of the search market and double its gaming revenue per user.

Justifying the stratospheric figure Trefis co-founder Cem Oxkaynak said that Facebook was: “It’s introducing more ads on its pages, changing the profile page design to emphasize photos that can lead to more page views and integrating Web search results within Facebook search results, changes that improve the likelihood that our scenarios on page views per user and search market share are plausible.”
