A new social community website which aims to provide a showcase for artists of all levels has gone live this week.

Bodyofart.com enables users to create their own profile and exhibit artwork online in unlimited galleries and keep up-to-date with art based events and exhibitions; a resources section lists various useful contacts under art colleges, art supplies, exhibitions and galleries.

“I want to connect and promote artists and art lovers worldwide,” explained website founder and professional life model, Leon Coburg.

“I’ve been a life model since 1986 and I have always wanted to develop a site where artists can share view and promote work, however, up until now that technology hasn’t existed.

“In the last five years this idea has become a reality and now I want to create something that works for individual artists.”

Positioned as ‘The Core for Creatives,’ the site will also serve as a lecture resource for art teachers by allowing them to build their own slideshow of images. Body Of Art (BOA) members can ‘follow’ favoured artists through RSS feeds and can post their views and comments on others’ artwork, whilst gaining feedback.

In support of the arts, BOA have also set up a Donations page where users can make financial donations to art projects, colleges and galleries.

The site, developed by Bristol-based digital agency The House of Omni, will also produce a weekly editorial feature called CANVAS, that will profile artists of all levels from the site, to maintain interest amongst users.

“We’re really proud of Body Of Art,” said Sam Hearn, managing director of The House of Omni.

“Creating a whole new community as opposed to a more traditional website requires extensive planning, research and development to ensure that the right tone and content is used to appeal to the target audience – in this case artists and art enthusiasts.”
