Two lucky Welsh organisations have secured £5k worth of free airtime courtesy of Real Radio Wales, in celebration of the broadcaster becoming the first national commercial radio station in the Celtic nation.

Joann Rae, marketing officer for Theatre Colwyn and Frank Addy, of children’s hospice Ty Hafan netted their free airtime after the pair became the last two standing in a “Hit or Miss” competition.

This pitted senior executives from across Wales against each other as they scrabbled to decide whether chosen songs were a hit, or a miss.

Rae proved to be the biggest hit during the Wrexham leg of the event in North Wales whilst Addy managed to avoid missing out in Cardiff against his South Wales challengers.

Station Director Tony Dowling said; “The ‘Hit or Miss’ competition was great fun and everyone really entered into the spirit of it. They say there is no such thing as a free lunch but there is clearly such a thing as a free breakfast! Congratulations to both Theatre Colwyn and Ty Hafan on their wins, we are delighted to have them on Real Radio.”
