A £4.9m mobile phone application development centre is to be hosted by The University of Glamorgan having received backing from the Convergence European Regional Development Fund.

The Centre of Excellence in Mobile Applications and Services has received £2.4m from the Fund, allowing Welsh businesses to design, test and protect their new apps.

Director of the centre, Professor Khalid Al-Begain, said that the centre would provide a web-based platform and telecommunications infrastructure that would help SME’s to create, develop and test their mobile applications ahead of launching them into the marketplace.
