Regis Corp has appointed Manchester agency Photolink Creative Group to handle social media accounts for two of its UK hair salon chains.

Photolink will look after "social media monitoring, multimedia content production, blogger relations and channel management" for the Regis and HCUK salons.

The agency's digital team has also designed and built blogs for each brand. Regis has 153 salons in the UK while HCUK operates 24.

Jenny Smith, brand manager at Regis, said: "We've been looking at developing our social media channels for some time but needed to find the right creative partner able to handle the media production elements as well as implementation and strategy."

Photolink's social media division was formed earlier this year when the agency appointed Russell Hirst, the former head of digital at Tangerine PR.

His department has since secured the global social media account for kitbag.com and the UK activity for corporate workwear brand Simon Jersey.

Photolink this week hired Refresh PR, founded by former Tangerine staff Laura Mashiter and Nicola Duncan, to help raise the profile of its own services.
