Raw Design Studio has developed a new campaign for NHS Derbyshire County called Think Green - a drive to get employees to reduce CO2 emissions by 25 per cent by 2014.

The campaign, launched internally and designed by Manchester agency, Raw Design Studio, makes going green more than a set of guidelines. An inclusive approach to carbon reduction, it aims to engage staff at all levels and create a sense of collective responsibility. Specifically, travel, energy waste and recycling will become key areas of focus, but the site also includes nice features like green Christmas tips and articles on employees who are supporting the campaign. It also includes a video to explain the benefits of the programme.

Responding to the Government’s call to reduce the carbon footprint of the NHS by 2020, Derbyshire County NHS is already working on targets across facilities management and buildings. Specifically, the Primary Care Trust has identified that eight per cent of savings need to be generated via positive action from employees.

As a result, employees are encouraged to ‘pledge’ their support on how they will commit to make things better. The organisation is also asking anyone with a passion for ‘being green’ to come forward and become Green Leaders. As a Green Leader, they will help champion some of the different initiatives underway.

NHS Derybshire County has developed a website to act as the central hub of the campaign. www.wethinkgreen.co.uk features a car pooling map, articles on recycling and top tips for at work and in the home.
