Sir Richard Branson has launched a website designed to track the emissions and energy efficiency of over 60,000 vessels at the UN climate summit in Cancun.

shippingefficiency.org is the brainchild of The Carbon War Room, a not for profit environmental movement established by Branson, and aims to reduce emissions by up to 25% by naming and shaming the worst polluters.

It will rate ships from A-G, thus allowing importers, exporters and holidaymakers to minimise their carbon footprint by sourcing the most efficient vessels.

The database, compiled from information supplied by the UN and international shipping registers, catalogues the majority of the world’s cargo ships, cruise liners and ferries.

Matblack, the Nottingham based creative, worked with Blue Communications to produce the brand identity and web presence for the paltform.
