Discussions between Apple and Edinburgh City Council over the construction of an Apple store on the city’s Princes Street are said to have been finalised.

An outlet at 122-123 Princes Street has long been rumoured but protracted negotiations with the council over preservation and the prominence of Apple’s brand on the storefront are said to have delayed progress, until now.

Speculation suggests the store could equate to around 13,000sq/ft of space stretching over the ground floor and basement

Construction is already underway on the new unit, hinting at a potential late 2011 opening.

Apple’s first Scottish store opened in Glasgow’s Buchanan Street back in 2007.
