Murdoch and Jobs team up for new iPad newspaper
News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch and Apple CEO Steve Jobs are preparing to launch a newspaper for iPads, according to reports in the US.
They will reveal details about 'the Daily' at the end of this month, with its launch planned for next year, according to reports emanating from the US.
It will be the world's first newspaper designed exclusively for tablet devices such as the iPad and will not have a print run or be available in online form, it is understood.
The 'paper' will be manned by a staff of 100 journalists and - thanks to the help of Apple - will be distributed to iPads for a cost of 99 cents a week, it is being claimed.
The launch would fall into line with Murdoch's mission to monetise journalism in digital forms. His News International empire has already erected paywalls around its Times and News of the World online content.
