Edinburgh agency Pagoda Public Relations has acquired Morhamburn Consultancy, a public affairs and media relations outfit which is also based in the Scottish capital.

Pagoda said the deal would create "a 15-strong company offering an integrated package of public affairs, media relations, community consultation and wider stakeholder communication".

Morhamburn, which has four staff, will operate as a trading subsidiary of Pagoda and will retain its own brand.

John Macgill, who was managing director of Grayling in Scotland before setting up Morahmburn in 2007, joins Pagoda's board. He described the deal as a "logical and exciting next step" for the firm.

Pagoda's managing director, Ian Coldwell (pictured), said: "This acquisition not only broadens our pool of expertise but gives us the scale to take on larger projects."

Also joining Pagoda is assistant director Niamh Hegarty, who has previously worked in the European Parliament and in public affairs in Brussels.

Pagoda's clients include The Crown Estate, Waitrose and Alliance Boots.
