Manchester-based Head First has launched an App, initially for the iPhone, that transforms the social networking platform Twitter into a platform game.

Super Twario encourages the game's players to use their tweets to win game points, turning the social networking platform into a platform game.

Super Twario takes your Twitter feed and transforms it into a series of platforms for your cartoon avatar to negotiate. By jumping on a Tweet you can read and reply to it. Hitting the avatars of your Twitter friends, as if they were powerups, activates other functions such as ReTweets.

Speaking of the Application, Dom Conlon, MD at Head First said: "What we wanted to do was develop an App to show that gaming can add real value to anything.

"I wrote an article in a recent issue of The Drum about this and I believe in it. On one level I wanted to show how Head First can be appropriate to any industry simply because we can create concepts that catch the imagination and create interest. This comes from creating an idea that is the right fit; we are very active on Twitter and we understand not just games but the role they play in people's lives. That led to the Super Twario idea and as it developed we saw ways in which we could take it. That's exciting from a creative point of view but we knew that it was important to get the main idea out first."

A blog has also been set up http://www.twario.com to promote the App and explain the game plan.
