The all-new MPA is calling on Manchester's PR community to help it realise its ambitions of providing a "strong, global voice" for Manchester's creative sector.

The organisation, formerly known as the Manchester Publicity Association, last month formed a strategic advisory board of Manchester media moguls to help it achieve its aims.

It has now taken this collaborative approach a step further by asking the city's PR agencies to become part of a 'fluid group' contributing their time, ideas and help.

Made in Manchester's Sarah Gormley has volunteered to steer the MPA's PR strategy and she will be helped by fellow PR professionals including Tangerine's Jo Dudley.

The first strategic meeting was held last week with agencies including Tangerine, MC2, Weber Shandwick, Fido PR and Mason Williams lending their services alongside freelancers Kelly Byrne and Chris Bridgett.

The group will now hold a series of ongoing meetings to define the organisation's PR strategy once a month.

Cindy Simmons, managing director of the MPA, said: "We are delighted to have such talented and experienced individuals who are willing to dedicate time and energy to help our cause.

"The hope is that more will come forward enabling the sharing of knowledge and ideas for the benefit of all."
