DADA has been appointed to create and deliver the PR and marketing activity for The Tall Ships Races 2011-Lerwick.

Shetland will welcome the Tall Ships fleet to Lerwick from 21-24 July after the non-competitive “Cruise in Company” between Greenock and Lerwick taking place from 12-21 July and will be the starting port for Race 2 between Lerwick and Stavanger, Norway.

Following a pitch process involving a number of communication firms across the UK, the appointment marks the start of a ten month PR campaign supported by marketing activity for The Tall Ships Races 2011-Lerwick.

Fiona Dally, project manager of The Tall Ships Races 2011-Lerwick said: “Finding an agency with an ability to think strategically and creatively across multiple audience sectors and geographies was critical to our communication objectives. We are excited about raising the profile of this prestigious event in Shetland, encouraging visitors to come to our beautiful islands and getting young people involved at the heart of the event as Sail Trainees.”

Meanwhile, DADA has also been retained by the 2010 Royal National Mod following a campaign in 2009, and has been re-appointed to deliver the PR and online marketing.

DADA re-secured the PR contract for the Royal National Mod 2010 following a successful PR and online marketing campaign in 2009.

The Royal National Mod 2010 and The Tall Ships Races 2011 are both global events and celebrations of Scottish culture. Both PR campaigns will be geared towards securing widespread coverage of Scotland as a destination for tourism, events, business and education.
