A new brand identity has been created for electronic recycling site www.weeebuy.co.uk by RMS.

The project, which pays cash for electronic waste, included the design and build of the website, character creation, marketing collateral and advertising, with the agency now retained to promote the site on an ongoing basis.

Figureheads for the brand entitled ‘weebs’ have also been created; cockney geezer @Earnie_Weeeb, @Edison_Weeeb the science geek and @Eartha_Weeeb the eco warrior, to represent the site’s proposition – to buy and recycle electrical waste in a secure and environmentally friendly manner.

Dave Merrell, head of design at RMS, explained; “We took this business from a standing start to full brand development. We decided to use characters to give weeebuy more of a point of difference and to give each element of the company a personality.”

Chris Rogerson, co-founder of weeebuy.co.uk, said: “As this is the first site of its kind to reward the general public with cash for complying with the European WEEE Directive on electrical goods, we wanted a brand that encapsulated our unique and green offering. RMS’s design and development is eye catching, original and memorable and has endless creative legs with further character development in the pipeline.”
