Yorkhill Children's Foundation has appointed David Welch as its new Head of fundraising, marketing and communications.

Welch’s new role will see him deliver a three year strategic plan to increase awareness of the Yorkhill brand and the work of Yorkhill Children's Foundation on a Scotland-wide level, as well as increasing public support through a wide and varied programme of innovative fundraising events and initiatives.

Having worked at director level with leading charities in the UK and overseas, including Concern, Aberlour, Mercy Corps and Highland Hospice, Welch brings a wealth of third sector experience to the role.

Speaking of his new role, Welch commented: "The team at Yorkhill Children's Foundation is young, dynamic, enthusiastic, very talented and most importantly, they are driven to deliver outstanding results. However, these are challenging times, especially for charities, where maintaining current levels of support and achieving targets is more difficult than before. I see my role as a great opportunity to provide the guidance and planning necessary to increase the income received by Yorkhill Children's Foundation and ensure that people are truly aware of the vital role it plays in helping to ensure that all children's who experience Yorkhill receive the best care possible and the facilities are the best they can be.

Yorkhill Children's Foundation’s chief executive Shona Cardle added: "David is already proving a valuable addition to the team and I have high hopes for our progress over the coming years. His experience and knowledge is second to none and I am confident that he will drive the strategic planning and development which support our overall funding strategy and objectives."
