Scottish student magazine Scotcampus is expanding its annual Glasgow Freshers' Festival by introducing an Edinburgh Festival later this month.

The Glasgow Freshers' Festival has taken place in Glasgow's George Square since 2007 and now attracts brands such as Coca-Cola, Urban Outfitters, Pot Noodle, Dominos Pizza, Blackberry and Yo! Sushi as sponsors and more than 14,000 students attend the two-day Fair every year.

Graeme Barratt, event director and co-founder of Scottish student magazine Scotcampus, says "We have been overwhelmed by the response of the last three years and 2010 is set to be an exciting year for the Freshers’ Festivals. We’re delighted to add Edinburgh to the bill, especially such a great site as The Meadows - it allows us to cater to students studying in the East coast, a demand which has been evident since day one.”

The new Edinburgh event will take place close to the city centre at The Meadows on 23 and 24 September and Edinburgh's population will be invited to go along between 10am and 6pm to receive free food and drinks from supporters such as Domino's Pizza and Relentless Energy Drinks and to get free advice from employment agencies. Goody bags will also be on offer to those who go along.

There will be more than 75 exhibitors, including; Blackberry, Domino’s Pizza, Urban Outfitters, PC World and Virgin Active and attendees can take part in Scotland’s first Glasgow Vs Edinburgh competitive eating contest. Stolen modelling agency’s top scouts will also be on the lookout for fresh talent.

Barratt goes on: "The Edinburgh event is perfectly located to capture the imagination of students from all of the city's major institutions. Just like its Glasgow counterpart, the event promises students a winning mix of free goody bags, free food and drink plus great music. Quite simply there’s nothing like it anywhere else in the UK."
