Doctors able to use smartphone apps for treatment
More than 3 millions doctors have downloaded an app which allows the iPhone to act as a stethoscope.
The iStephoscope app, priced at 59p, was created by Peter Bentley, a researcher at University College London, who launched a new, free version last week which is reportedly being downloaded at a rate of 500-a-day.
According to The Guardian, the iStore has over 6,000 applications which relate to health, with more than 80 per cent of doctors expected to own a smartphone by 2012, although Bentley has said that he is unable to launch a new range of apps due to the medical regulations currently in place which prevent their usage.
