Manchester City has unveiled its latest rallying call to supporters in Manchester - a giant piece of Soviet-style artwork next to one of the city's busiest roads.

Fans of rivals Man Utd won't relish driving past the giant mural next to the Mancunian Way - just as they didn't take kindly to City's huge Welcome to Manchester poster on Deansgate, which went on to win the grand prix at the Roses Awards.

City's artwork for the new season uses imagery reminiscent of Soviet-era political posters to urge those of the blue persuasion to 'Be Part of It' this season.

It follows on from City's recently-launched Be Part of It website - an online map of the club's fans - and is the latest in a series of efforts to grow the club's brand at home and abroad.

Chris Kay, City’s head of marketing, said: "We wanted to capture that feeling that all football fans have when they see their team in the first home game of the season."
