As plans for The Manchester Contemporary art fair take shape, curatorial co-ordinator, The International 3, has announced the 12 galleries that will be participating.

The Manchester Contemporary, which takes place from 28 to 31 October in the city’s Spinningfields district, will welcome the following galleries and their artists:

Arcade, London

Bureau, Manchester

Ceri Hand Gallery, Liverpool

David Risley Gallery, Copenhagen

Faye Fleming & Partner, Geneva

Man & Eve, London

Mermaid and Monster, Cardiff

Nettie Horn, London

Seventeen, London

The International 3, Manchester

Workplace Gallery, Gateshead

Works Projects, Bristol

Paulette Terry Brien and Laurence Lane, directors of The International 3, said: “We are really pleased to confirm this exciting gallery line-up for The Manchester Contemporary. Our goal is to give audiences access to high calibre contemporary art and further develop the market for critically engaged contemporary art in the North West.

“We believe the galleries and artists who will be at this year’s fair will deliver exactly this opportunity, giving visitors an engaging art-viewing and art-purchasing experience.”

Details of the artists exhibiting at The Manchester Contemporary will be announced shortly.

This year’s art fair will take a flexible approach to the presentation of work. Rather than booth spaces, each of the participating galleries will be given an open area with walls provided where required by the specifics of the work being presented. This will produce an exhibition design that will give precedence to the presentation of the art.

A talks and events programme, co-ordinated by the Contemporary Art Society North West and Arts & Business, will also give audiences advice on starting and developing an art collection.

Running in tandem with The Manchester Contemporary is Buy Art Fair which has become an important fixture on Manchester’s art scene.

The Manchester Contemporary is sponsored by Bluefin Insurance Services in conjunction with AXA Art Insurance, and Jaguar Cars Limited.
