The Bribery Act 2010, which, when introduced could see a step change enforced in the ‘wining and dining’ strategy used by media companies to sweeten and close deals, has been delayed until next year.

The Act, which has received Royal Assent, has been delayed until April 2011 to allow the Government to undertake a consultation period which will allow commercial organisations to put in place a strategy to avoid falling foul of the act.

Beginning in September, the consultation will issue guidance on procedures for companies early next year for them to undertake in order to avoid creating a corporate offence of bribery.
