BBC1 Breakfast show sized up for Salford move

BBC producer tells Twitter followers flagship Breakfast show could move from London to Salford Quays by 2012. BBC says options are being considered.

Breakfast producer James Laidler told his Twitter followers this morning that the show would "very likely" move from London to MediaCityUK within two years.

Laidler, who looks after "all things social media for BBC Breakfast", wrote: "Awful mood in office today - emerges Breakfast is very likely moving to Salford by 2012 and we'll have 6 months to decide if we go too."

In another message he added: "I shld [sic] point out that none of sentiment is because of Salford itself. It's compressed timescale of relocation compared with other teams."

Both messages have sinced been removed from the social networking site.

A BBC spokesman said no decision had been made about moving the show but added: "The position is that we want to move more output to Salford and we are considering a range of options."
