The Drum takes a look at some of the media and marketing stories doing the rounds this Sunday morning in the newspapers.

A study by the China Academy of Social Sciences has claimed that social networking sites such as Facebook are used as ‘tools of subversion’ by the western world, reports The Independent on Sunday.

According to The Sunday Express, a tribute Facebook page has been set up for fugitive Raul Moat, who killed himself in the early hours of Saturday morning following a six hour armed stand off with police. The page was set up after Moat’s death, and has had more than 6,000 comments so far.

Charged have been dropped against Sunday Mirror reporter Simon Wright by South African police after his arrest for interviewing Pavlos Joseph, the man who invaded the England dressing room following the team’s 0-0 draw with Algeria. Wright was charged with defeating the ends of justice by hiding Joseph, but all charges have now been dropped.

Scotland on Sunday reports that the Chamber of Commerce is encouraging thousands of Scottish companies to stage a mass protest against the rise in business rates which are set to threaten Small and medium sized enterprises.

The Mail on Sunday says that the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson has been forced to sack her team of seven full-time staff, including PR adviser Kate Waddington in a bid to save around £700,000 a year.

Finally, media darling, Paul the psychic Octopus has predicted that Spain will win the World Cup final, as reported by several sources.
