The next advert from the new Tennent’s campaign, featuring the lager’s founder Hugh Tennent, will go to air this evening, created by Newhaven.

The second of three completed adverts focuses on Hugh Tennent’s plans to market his ‘Fabulous Brew’ and is reminiscent of the brand’s use of the ‘Lager Lovelies’ who featured on its can of lager throughout the 70’s and 80’s…only Hugh wants to feature his pet monkeys instead.

Once again directed by Daniel Kleinman, ‘Can Monkeys’ will air across various channels from 8. 30pm tonight.

Jane Cannon, marketing manager for Tennent’s, commented: “The idea with this latest ad was to have some fun with Tennent’s marketing heritage, and to see what our version of Hugh might have done with a marketing budget for his newly created Fabulous Brew. The Lager Lovelies are part of our past, but they were a truly iconic piece of marketing and the perfect springboard for the next adventures of Hugh in our current campaign.”

The campaign began last month with ‘Madman’s Dream’ and was the first TV advertising for the brand since it was bought by C&C from Anheuser-Busch InBev last year.

This year’s T in the Park will also highlight the campaign through Hugh Tennent’s Marvelous Moustache Emporium where a team of face painters will decorate the faces of festival goers with a moustache of choice from a set menu. Tennents will also encourage revelers to grow their own – all of which can then be uploaded to its campaign website, developed by Whitespace.
